This season we present Missa Solemnis (“Solemn Mass”), a monumental work written by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt for the consecration of Hungary’s largest church, the Basilica of Esztergom. Liszt sought to “unite on a colossal scale the theater and the church”—and this performance delivers just that.
