Job Description
The La Grange Business Association is a membership group serving businesses in La Grange and surrounding areas. This 30+ year old organization champions small business and builds the community.


The communications and marketing specialist is responsible for management of a range of online and offline communications for the La Grange Business Association, including personal outreach to members and for implementing specific strategies to increase communications and marketing goals. This is a part-time position of 10-15 hours per week. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

1. Create and implement a social media strategy for the LGBA and our associated events. Develop/maintain social media accounts and strategic content on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn to support and expand our digital presence and enhance the LGBA’s online reputation. Manage and monitor SEO and engagement and implement content optimization. Suggest and implement new features for brand awareness like promotions and competitions. Develop and monitor paid campaigns.

2. Market LGBA events and member milestones. Assist in the preparation and drafting of various communications (email, social media, videos, blogs, etc. to maximize awareness of and participation in the events of the business association. Develop and implement email campaigns and compelling custom content through existing platforms, and retool and maintain resident and member mailing lists.

3. In conjunction with staff, maintain and update website with current, compelling information. Create, adapt, and optimize web communication for SEO to expand our online presence. Transform content to ensure easy sharing with social networks.

3. Maintain relationships with local media outlets; write and distribute news release for public events and activities.

4. Experience with MS Office Suite, writing and editing, email campaign systems, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. Excellent knowledge of English both speaking and writing.

5. Collaborate with staff and assist with other member, marketing and communications projects. Attend monthly member meetings and events, as needed.
  • Proven experience as a social media manager and strong writing skills.
  • Digital and social savvy across leading platforms.
  • Strong understanding of best practices, analytics, tools and industry trends and paid search.
  • Content creation skills including basic graphic design and basic video production.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Analytical and multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Familiarity with web-design.
