DESCRIPTION:Featuring watercolor and acrylic paintings of Chicago neighborhood streets\, intersections and landmarks that capture the character of the city that makes Chicago look like Chicago. Paintings are a combination of plein air and studio work from on location sketches and quick color studies.\n\n\n\nGordon graduated from the School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago then began a \n\nforty year career in advertising in Chicago. After retiring\, he pursued his painting activities\, teaching and exhibiting throughout the Midwest and east coast winning several show and gallery merit awards and ribbons including Best Of Show and First Prize.\n\n\n\nTwo of his paintings chronicling American city life were selected for exhibit at the \n\nUS embassy in Sarajevo as part of the state department's Art In Embassies program.\n\nFrance has been a featured artist on Chicago TV and in newspapers. He was awarded 3rd place in American Artist's magazine's 70th Anniversary competition for his painting "Wrigley Rain Out" and was the featured painter on the cover and 8 page article in Watercolor magazine highlighting his cityscapes.\n\n\n\nGordon's paintings hang in private and corporate collections in Italy\, the UK\, Canada \n\nand throughout the US. He is a member of theTransparent Watercolor Society\, \n\nthe Illinois Watercolor Society\, the York Art Association\, York Harbor Maine\, \n\nthe La Grange Art League\, Du Page Art League and Naperville Art League.\n\nHe is represented by Arts On Elston Galleries\, Chicago\, \n\nand Phyllis Lucas Galleries\, NYC.
